The Raising of Lazarus is iconographically depicted with Christ standing in front of the tomb, holding a closed scroll in His left hand, blessing with His right, and commanding the dead man to rise. Lazarus is wrapped in his burial shroud, symbolizing both death and the miraculous nature of his resurrection. At his feet, two men hold the stone that covered the tomb while beginning to unwrap his body. His relatives and other people who were present at the event gaze in awe, filled with astonishment and joy. The composition is framed by mountains, suggesting the natural location of the burial.
