After the Last Supper, Jesus Christ engaged in prayer in the quiet of the Garden of Gethsemane. His disciples Peter, James, and John, weary after a long day, fell asleep, but He was not inclined to rest. He felt the weight of the impending trial.

The words of His prayer are filled with deep meaning and devotion to His Father's will: "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." Despite feeling the burden of the impending sacrifice, the Savior surrenders Himself to the hands of divine wisdom.

Christ's prayer in that nocturnal hour is a moment of acceptance of His destiny; a true fulfillment of God's will. Christ not only reveals His human nature, struggling with fear and doubt, but also exemplifies true devotion and faith. For the great sacrifice He is about to make is unlike anything ever experienced by humanity.

Thus, in the silence of the night, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ's prayer became a symbol of devotion, humility, and boundless love for humanity, which could not be shaken by betrayal, mockery, lies, slander, ingratitude, the crown of thorns, or even the sufferings of the cross.

Through His obedience to God the Father, Jesus Christ achieved the greatest victory over Satan in the Garden of Gethsemane. By disobeying God's command, Adam was defeated by Satan. By obeying God unconditionally, Christ conquered Satan and bestowed salvation upon Adam and his descendants.
