Sterling Silver Locket | Saints Constantine and Helen

The front side of the locket bears the image of Saints Constantine and Helen, Equal to the Apostles. The reverse side is engraved with the inscription “ΙΣ ΧΣ ΝΙΚΑ” (Ἰησοῦς Χριστὸς νικᾷ), meaning “Jesus Christ Conquers”. The letters are arranged in the four quadrants of an equal-armed cross, following a traditional Byzantine arrangement. An inscription runs along the perimeter of the locket:

Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ, Υιέ του Θεού, ελέησόν με τον αμαρτωλόν — Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have Mercy on me a Sinner

The locket opens and can also serve as a small reliquary for storing particles of holy relics, incense, and other small sacred items.

Saints Constantine and Helen

Saints Constantine and Helen, Equal to the Apostles, are venerated by the Orthodox Church for their great contributions to the Christian faith. Emperor Constantine the Great put an end to the persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire and helped spread Christianity. His mother, Saint Helen, made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, where, according to Church tradition, she discovered the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord.
