Michael the Archangel fabric amulet

The amulet has a prayer Κύριε Ιησού Χριστέ δόξα σοι (Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ) on the reverse.

Amulets

Fabric amulets are small bags, most often with church symbols or images of saints. They are usually filled with incense or other small objects.

Amulets are used as talismans; for these reasons they are often attached to clothes with a pin, and sometimes worn around the neck on a cord. The amulets can also be attached to the headboard of the bed.

Saint Michael the Archangel

The Archangel Michael is the chief angel, the head of the holy host of Angels and Archangels. "Archangel Michael" includes five words:

ka - like

el - God

The literal translation of the name, "Who is like God?", suggests a questioning intonation. Thus, the name "Michael" means "no one is equal to God".
