The icon the “Extreme Humility” of Christ depicts Jesus with His hands crossed over His chest and His head tilted to the one side. His body bears the marks of the Passion: the holes from the nails are shown in His palms, while the wound from the spear that pierced His side is also visible. Behind Him rises the cross. His eyes and mouth remain closed, expressing the silent patience of the mystery of Death and Resurrection. Inscribed in His halo is the phrase "ό Ών" (One Who Is), which emphasizes the ontological truth of His existence. The icon conveys the profound love of Christ, who sacrifices His transcendent self for the salvation of the world.
