The Ascension of the Lord is celebrated on the fortieth day after Easter, on the Thursday of the sixth week. On this day, we remember how Jesus Christ ascended to heaven from the Mount of Olives, promising His second coming. The celebration was established during the times of the apostles and is mentioned by St. Gregory of Nyssa and St. John Chrysostom.

The forty-day period holds significance in the Holy Scriptures; it is mentioned in various events such as the Great Flood, the wandering of the Jews in the desert, and the Lord's fast in the wilderness. This period symbolizes important moments in Christian history and traditions.
