An exact replica of the icon of Theotokos Oikonomissa from the Monastery of Great Lavra on Mount Athos. Made on a particle board with the use of the most advanced imprinting and production techniques. The background is decorated in a way that gives the impression of glossy gilding.
The icon received its name from the memory of the words which the Theotokos spoke to Saint Athanasius the Athonite: that she would always take care of the material needs of the monastery, because she would be its “house-keeper” (“oikonomissa” in Greek). Indeed, to this very day, the important obedience of house-keeper is not delegated to any of the monks of the Monastery, but only an assistant house-keeper is assigned.
The icon depicts 14 scenes related the monastery and its founding. It can be found in the Lity of the main church of the monastsery, to the left of the central entrance housed in a wooden shrine.
