Saint Parthenius of Lampsacus

Icon made on natural linden wood with water-gilding technique. After the thermal treatment, the wood was gilded with 22K gold leaf, in accordance with traditional Byzantine techniques. The icon has been painted with egg tempera for a higher quality and durability of the colors.

Saint Parthenius of Lampsacus

Saint Parthenius, bishop of Lampsakos, is depicted as an enlightened hierarch. His gaze is filled with gentleness and fatherly affection. He wears archiepiscopal vestments, in deep red color, adorned with radiant details. The crosses decorating his omophorion signify his episcopal office. His beard is white and thick, symbolizing his wisdom and asceticism. In his left hand he holds a closed Gospel book, while with his right hand he blesses the faithful. Around his neck there hangs a medallion portraying the Most Holy Theotokos together with the Divine Child.
