Icon made on natural linden wood with water-gilding technique. After the thermal treatment, the wood was gilded with 22K gold leaf, in accordance with traditional Byzantine techniques. The icon has been painted with egg tempera for a higher quality and durability of the colors.
Saint Iakovos (Jacob) Tsalikis of Evia is portrayed as a great paternal figure. His iconographic type clearly expresses his inner purity and the spiritual richness of his personality. He wears a dark monastic habit, while his gaze is framed by a long white beard. In his left hand he holds a scepter, symbolizing his priestly office, while with his right hand he blesses the faithful. Around his neck hangs a golden cross, a testimony to his dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ.
