Chambersticks

Chambersticks are candle holders designed to be carried. They are shorter in height, with a flat, circular base that is sometimes ornamentally shaped. This is to catch any dripping wax, keeping it from falling onto the floor or coming into contact with clothing.

The main difference between the chamberstick and the candle holder is in the size. Chambersticks are intended to be small. When they were invented, chambersticks were utilised in one’s private chambers — specifically their bedrooms — in order to have just the right amount of light to get ready for bed. Thus the name "chamberstick".
