Baptism of Christ

The icon is made on a particle board with the use of the most advanced imprinting and production techniques. The background is decorated in a way that gives the impression of glossy gilding.

The icon of the Baptism of Christ depicts Jesus in the River Jordan the moment when Saint John the Baptist blesses the waters. Christ appears serene and gentle. From heaven the Holy Spirit descends “in the form of a dove,” exactly as described in the apolytikion of the Feast of Theophany. Saint John stands to the right of Jesus, holding his left hand high to the Lord and placing his right palm upon the Savior’s head, his gaze directed toward heaven. On the left bank of the river stands a multitude of angels, contemplating the event and glorifying God for His boundless love for humankind.
